Safdarjung Tomb, Delhi Overview
Designed by Nawab Shujaud Daula, Safdarjung Tomb was constructed in the mid 17th century in New Delhi, the capital city of India. This site boasts Mughal architecture. The whole structure is made of marble and sandstone. Basically, Safdarjung tomb holds the grave of Safdarjung, who was recognized as the prime minister of India in the Mughal era. The whole construction project was handled by his descendant Nawab Shujaud Daula.
The site happens to be the last Mughal architecture in India. Located at a short distance from Safdarjung Airport, the site receives a large number of local and international tourists on a daily basis. Despite being constructed in accordance with the Delhi’s famous Humayun’s Tomb, Safdarjung tomb could not match the magnificence and style of the latter. Surrounding the mausoleum is a large square garden on both sides. The garden somewhat resembles the Charbagh Mughal Architecture. You can spot a library at the entrance.
